Eventually I got this proc and graphic card to test, due to some budget issue~ Hahaha~ Anyway I really found out that it’s a very high C/P platform, suit for budget HDCP~
For AMD Athlon II x2 5000(take note it’s without '+'), basically I left this model behind since the day 1 it is on retails, due to the limitation to DDR3, meaning it’s a not so upgradable platform in future; DDR3 is going hot now even performance gain is not really much… In short, never have chance to play with it, tried many AM2/AM3 already but not this AM2+ model. This model can be consider 'clear stock' version of those phase out AM2+ quad core proc~
For Sapphire ATI HD 5670, it’s the successor of HD 4670 with another 80 SPs extra, for TMU and ROP units quite confusing, there are different specifications from GPUz and AMD. According to GPUz, HD 5670 should have 400 SPs, 16 ROPs and 40 TMUs, anyway officially according to AMD, should have 8 ROPs and 20 TMUs only~
Well, let’s start.
Test Spec:
CPU : AMD Athlon II x2 5000 2.2 GHz (0937 batch)
Motherboard : Biostar TA785GE 128M
RAM : Team Elite DDR2 800 MHz 2GB
Graphic Card : Sapphire ATI HD 5670
Hard disk : Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB
PSU : FSP Saga 400W
1st of all, I will run few simple tests once before the "unlocking + overclocking ".
Dual core with stock speed 2.2 GHz, HTT 1.6GHz, C&Q on~

Very obvious, it just can score 4650 and 3539 for cpu only in performance mode with a dual core at 2.2GHz.
3dmark 06

Score 8575 and 1773 for cpu only, it overkills 4670 for sure even with a small margin.

Well, it took 36s to finish the 1M test. Nothing deals with the multi core. Not a strong section as usual for AMD.

Yup, it’s 2594! What a dual core can do with this speed.
Ok! Finally now the game starts!!!
With the ACC support in 785G chipset which build in the budget board Biostar TA785GE 128M, I am able to unlock all cores. After some fine-tunes, found out that there is ram divider issue with the proc after unlocking, and tried a lot of times at this point with 667 MHz. At last, I realize and set it to 533 MHz, then it can overclock like charm to 3.0 GHz at stock vcore. Well, after overclock, ram can stick with 800 MHz with SPD timing (No time to play with the ram :p).
Quad core with 3.0 GHz, HTT 1.8 GHz, C&Q still on~
Due to laziness and greediness, HD 5670 @ 800/1050 now~
Again,

With "unlocking + overclocking", it finally can hits 6k with 6091. It’s really a big jump for the cpu score, around 287%!!!
3dmark 06
The marks able boost to 11481 after the tuning! Around 233% for the cpu score!!!
CPU Test
Super PI

With 800MHz advantage, the proc able to finish 1M test with 23s. Around 35% boost~
Fritz Chess Benchmark

At last, with 7181 which is around 277% different from the stock speed, finish the testing section for the unlocking version!
Conclusion, even all the above benchmark may not reflect similar improvement in real life usage performance, but it’s still a worth to buy proc for those low budget and seldom platform upgrade users. Well, for sure it’s a luck drive purchasing, it may not 100% unlockable. I personally will recommend that particular platform (x2 5000 and 785G) to people who want to play with HD LCD/Plasma TV for HD movies, with that quad core potential I believe all the high def movies are able to play smooth. Anyway, wish all of us luck!!!
